Upcycle Hawaiʻi (East Hawaiʻi – Hilo Center)

Upcycle Hawaiʻi LLC, founded by Mattie Mae Larson, transforms discarded materials from coastline cleanups into eco-friendly products like bags, pouches, and keyrings. What started at farmers markets has grown into gift shops, resorts, and co-branding projects. With a production facility expansion and long-term growth plan, Upcycle Hawaiʻi exemplifies local manufacturing rooted in sustainability and innovation.

HAWAIIAN KINE TRADING COMPANY (Oʻahu Center)

Dallas and Sean Stewart launched Hawaiian Kine Trading Company after a simple favor turned into a full-scale operation.

With help from the Oʻahu SBDC, they secured grant funding, built a clean room, and began manufacturing N95 and surgical masks to serve local and B2B markets.

Raw Love Sunscreen (Maui Center)

Raw Love Sunscreen, founded by Maui resident Jenna Davis, is the first FDA-approved, coral-safe sunscreen created in Hawaiʻi. With a background in chemistry and marine biology, Jenna developed a reef-friendly zinc-based formula free of harmful chemicals and plastic packaging. Supported by the SBDC, she navigated FDA certification, expanded into wholesale and online sales, and now distributes to over 100 stores while scaling production to meet growing demand.
